WHICH historical figure is – reputedly – buried in Hathersage?
This is just one of the questions that lovers of the Peak District will be set by quiz master Nick Brelsford in Sheffield tomorrow.
The Big Peak Quiz is being organised by countryside charity Friends of the Peak District. It is taking place at Harland Cafe, off Bramall Lane, Lowfield, at 7.30pm.
Nick’s day job is as business coordinator at Sheffield-based cycle training firm Pedal Ready, but he has links with the Peak District.
He said: “I am a part time quiz-setter but have been setting them for more than 10 years now for fundraising events.
“I ran a bed and breakfast in Tideswell for 10 years, and still work there in my other part-time guise of playwright on a living history project.”
Live music will be provided by Robin Garside, another countryside fan, and member of Wadsley and Loxley Commoners.
Danny Anderson, fundraiser with the Friends of the Peak District, said: “Apart from Nick’s excellent big quiz, we’re looking forward to some great folk and blues music from Robin Garside and his friends.
“People can get chips and drinks from the bar, so it promises to be a brilliant night out.
“All the profits from the night will go towards our work looking after Peak District landscapes.”
Doors to the event open at 7.30pm and entry is £5 on the door.
