Tesco launches new permanent food collection point in store

Tesco has launched a new permanent food collection point in its Ecclesall Metro store in the Berkeley shopping precinct.

As part of Tesco’s partnership with FareShare and The Trussell Trust, the collection points allow customers to donate store cupboard essentials to people in need all year round, with Tesco topping up all donations.

The Trussell Trust runs foodbanks and FareShare distributes surplus food to the needy.

Rachel Finn, Tesco’s Head of Community Food Programmes, said: “We’re proud to be increasing the number of permanent food collection points in Tesco, taking us into over 600 communities, including Ecclesall.

“We know our customers in Ecclesall want to be able to donate food on a regular basis.”
