Tenants can sit qualifications

Have your say

TENANTS on South Yorkshire housing estates can obtain qualifications for their work within neighbourhoods.

Berneslai Homes, which runs council housing in Barnsley, has just become an accredited centre to deliver tenant qualifications for the Chartered Institute of Housing, the UK’s professional body for housing.

Two awards are available – level two in community action for housing, which is equivalent to one GCSE, and a level three award in governance, which is equivalent to one A level.

This year’s intake for the courses is now full with 14 residents partnered up with 14 staff, but Berneslai is looking to continue it in future and wants to extend it to offer more qualifications.
