Banoffee coffee, tasty Greek gyros and the ‘hottest chilli pepper in the world’ are all on the menu at the five-day market, which will be on Fargate and outside the town hall from March 2.

And the market will even be offering a nod to Mothers’ Day on its final day, Sunday March 6 , when one of its regular traders, Dutch Flowers on Tour, will be handing out roses - sourced in Holland and transported to Sheffield via a purpose-built refrigerated lorry - to as many Steel City mothers as possible.

Market Place Markets manager, Matthew Hartwell, said: “We are really excited to return to Sheffield for the first time in 2016.

“As such a popular location, our traders always look forward to returning to Sheffield as we always have such a warm welcome from the people of the city and the event is always a great success.

“This spring we will be bringing tangible authentic continental flavour to Sheffield and visitors will be able to explore the essence of a number of countries as our traders will be travelling from all corners of the globe especially for this event. The city centre will be alive with a fantastic family friendly atmosphere and some truly fantastic flavours.

“The Greek Grill will be serving some traditionally freshly cut gyros and skewers as the Wiltshire Chilli Farm will be bringing the heat with a variety of chilli based products, including chocolate, jams, sauces and they even have Trinidad Scorpion Chilli, the hottest chilli in the world!

“Jimmy Bean will also be in Sheffield with a huge selection of coffee beans and teas. The London based family business are always a popular point of the market as shoppers can return to their all-time favourite or explore a range of new tastes only at the Global Village Market. Some of the weird and wonderful flavours include strawberries and cream, Banoffee Coffee, Orange Brandy and Liquorice flavoured tea to name but a few.

“Our friendly traders look forward to welcoming visitors who are certain to experience a fun family day out with a difference.”

The Global Village Market will open on Wednesday March 2 and will run Wednesday to Saturday from 9am to 5.30pm, and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
