He has instructed serious injury lawyers at Irwin Mitchell, who are now appealing to fellow clubbers to help piece together what happened on the night.

Clarke had just qualified as an electrical engineer a couple of days before his incident but is currently unable to work.

Ewan Bain, a legal specialist at Irwin Mitchell representing him said: “Clarke has suffered potentially life-changing head injuries and we believe there are other witnesses who can help establish what happened.

“Clarke and his family would be grateful for anyone who may have further information to contact us; as they may be able to help secure him the specialist support and rehabilitation he will need to aid his recovery.”

The club has been contacted for comment.
