A TEENAGER on a Duke of Edinburgh expedition was rushed to Sheffield Children’s Hospital after suffering a heart problem while in the Peak District.

Members of Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue teams were called out to help the stricken 15-year-old girl from Hale, Warrington.

The teenager, who was with a group on a Duke of Edinburgh Award practice expedition, was found at junction of the Chapel Gate track and Whitemoor Clough footpath between Chapel-en-le-Frith and Edale.

A spokesman for Buxton Moutain Rescue team said she was treated by East Midlands Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance paramedics and flown to Sheffield Children’s Hospital for further checks and treatment on Sunday afternoon.
