Teenager discharged from hospital after stabbing in Sheffield park

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a teenager was stabbed in the neck and back in a Sheffield park.

The attack on the 18-year-old man took place in broad daylight at Manor Fields Park off City Road on Monday afternoon.

The teenager was taken to the Northern General Hospital for treatment for his injuries, which were not life-threatening.

He has now been discharged from hospital.

Police today appealed for anyone with information about the ‘alarming’ attack to come forward.

No one has yet been arrested in connection with the incident at Manor Fields Park, which is located two miles south-east of Sheffield city centre, between City Road and Manor Park.

Detective Sergeant John Yoxall, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have witnessed the incident, to contact police.

“While we appreciate that incidents like this are alarming, they are relatively rare and I would like to reassure local residents that our enquiries in to this matter remain ongoing.”

Emergency services were called to Manor Fields Park at around 4.50pm on Monday following reports that an 18-year-old man had been stabbed in his back and neck.

The park was cordoned off by police officers for several hours on Monday night afterwards as investigations at the scene took place.

It was back open as normal this morning.
