A teenager has suffered serious injuries after coming off his motorbike near Doncaster town centre.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash at 3pm yesterday on Cleveland Street, at the junction with St James Street, which occurred in rainy conditions.

The bike, a red and black Kymco, was heading towards Balby Road when it apparently failed to negotiate a sweeping left-hand bend and hit a street light. It is not believed that any other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The rider, a 19-year-old man from Dunsville, suffered serious spinal injuries and was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary, where he was detained.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone with information to call South Yorkshire Police on: 101 and quote incident number 627 of 29 May, 2013.
