YOUNG people in Rotherham elected four teenagers to represent them on the UK Youth Parliament.

Josh Parker, aged 14, from Thrybergh, and Kyle Walker, 16, from Wath Upon Dearne, emerged as the new MYPs after voting was held in schools, youth centres and colleges.

Oliver Blake, aged 13, from Bramley, and Josh Whitehouse, 15, from Kimberworth Park, were voted deputy MYPs.

Rotherham Council education spokesman Coun Mahroof Hussain said: “It’s great to see so many young people getting involved in local democracy, with more than 5,000 votes cast in this election.”
