Teenage carer to bear flame

AN INSPIRATIONAL teenager who cares for her autistic sister is to carry the Olympic flame in Chesterfield.

Molly Mee, aged 15, from Derbyshire, will carry the torch from Schoolboard Lane to Chatsworth Road tomorrow.

She is also a keen member of Amber Valley Athletics Club.

Mum Marie said the Ripley Mill Hill School pupil was ‘very excited’ about her run.

She said: “Molly runs for Amber Valley anyway, so she already had a keen interest in athletics.

“But also she has an older sister Megan who is severely autistic and, because she is a teenager, is classed as a teenage carer.

“She just gets on with it without complaining.

“Megan will be there to cheer her on during the run.

“We’ve got lots of relatives going, as well as people from the athletics club.”

Molly is due to carry the torch at 1.12pm.
