A teenager was left with a broken nose after being punched by a motorist.

The 18-year-old was travelling in his partner’s car along Tanfield Way, Wickersley, when he asked her to stop so he could get out and make a phone call.

A black Audi A3 travelling in the opposite direction was unable to pass and the driver began sounding its horn. He then got out, approached the 18-year-old and punched him.

The victim was taken to hospital and treated for a possible fractured cheekbone and broken nose after the incident on Saturday, at about 11.45am.

Officers are trying to trace the Audi driver, who is described as white, 6ft, aged about 27,, of medium build and with shaved light brown hair.
