Jordan Frost, aged 15, was in the town centre shopping centre with friends on the evening of Wednesday June 1, when the alleged incident took place.

“It was about 7.50pm, I was with about five of my mates in the Frenchgate centre. One of my friends wanted to wait for the bus so we were sat on a bench at the top of escalators leading down to the Interchange because it’s warmer up there.

“These two guards came over and told me to get up. One of them grabbed me and told me to get out.”

The Ash Hill Academy pupil claims he does not know why he was told to leave, and when he asked for an explantation the guards became aggressive.

“They got me on the floor and they were trying to hit me. They had their hands on my neck and on my face, I’ve got bruising.

“ I wasn’t trying to resist. They didn’t give me a proper chance to leave when they asked me to. I would have left if they had given me a proper explanation.”

Jordan estimates the incident, which was filmed on a mobile phone by a friend, lasted around five minutes.

After this, he was taken in to a private room - but still he was offered no explanation.

“There was another guard that came over and got me up off the floor. He didn’t really touch me though, he was just opening doors.

“They had me in a back room for another five minutes or so. They forced my hands behind my back and then told me how to get out and said don’t come back.”

The year 10 pupil returned to his friends and immediately called the police.

“I can’t really remember what they said. I was shaking so much. I don’t think I will ever be going back to the Frenchgate centre now.”

A spokesperson for Frenchgate centre said: “We are currently reviewing CCTV from the area to determine events leading up to and during the incident.

“All incidents that are reported to us are thoroughly investigated and the appropriate action is taken when necessary.”
