Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery on Union Street, Barnsley.

A 19-year-old man was walking next to the Britannia flats complex when he heard footsteps running up behind him from the direction of Sheffield Road. An offender then ran across the road before striking him across the head, knocking him to the ground.

The thug shouted: “Give me your phone and your wallet” before stealing the man’s property and running off.

The robber - who struck at 11.30pm on Sunday, October 14 - was white, 6ft tall, with dark hair, and wearing a blue jacket. He spoke with a Barnsley accent. Call police on 101.
