Team GB Olympic medallist to open new Sheffield Aldi store

A Team GB Olympic rowing star is to open Sheffield's newest supermarket next week.

Rowing ace Matt Langridge is set to unveil the brand new Aldi Norton, situated on St James Retail Park, on July 19.

The Team GB star, who holds a bronze, silver and gold medal from his performances as part of the men’s eight, at the London, Beijing and Rio Olympics, will officially cut the ribbon to declare the store open at 8am.

Matt will also greet the first 30 shoppers to arrive on the morning with a complimentary bag full of delicious fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s Super 6 range.

After the opening, Lower Meadow Primary School will welcome Matt to speak to pupils about his career as a Team GB Olympian and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

This comes as part of the supermarket’s initiative, “Get Set to Eat Fresh”, which hopes to inspire 1.2 million schoolchildren to learn about the benefits of cooking fresh, healthy food.’
