Emergency services were alerted to a shooting in Margate Drive, Pitsmoor, at 9.35pm yesterday after a white Seat estate, operated by City Taxis, was shot at as the driver pulled up for a pre-booked fare.

South Yorkshire Police said that while the taxi was parked up a blue Audi pulled up alongside the vehicle and a gun was fired at the car.

The Audi then left the scene.
