A 27-year-old man was due to appear at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court in connection with a serious incident outside a town supermarket.

Michael Grantham, of Roughwood Road, Rotherham, has been charged with wounding, aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance, driving without a licence and driving while unfit through drugs.

Emergency services were called to Asda, on Aldwarke Lane, on Christmas Eve, at about 5.15pm, following reports someone had attempted to steal a taxi before colliding with a number of vehicles.

A 63-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
