Taxi donation is wheelie great

FREEDOM has been restored for a Sheffield man - after city taxi firm Mercury stepped in to help him buy a new set of wheels.

David Duggan, aged 27, from Park Hill, suffers spina bifida, or ‘cleft spine’, meaning he is confined to a wheelchair but struggled to move around in a manual model - and needed a £2,000 electric one.

David’s friends and family organised a fundraiser at The Office pub in Upperthorpe - then Mercury agreed to provide the remaining £1,000. Grateful David said: “It’s given me a new lease of life.”
