Police chiefs in South Yorkshire say they are in contact with local union representatives over a proposed strike by civilian workers later this month.
But they say negotiations are ongoing at a ‘national level’.
They have not yet indicated how the force will operate on Friday, January 23 when civilian workers walk out for a 24-hour period from 7am.
They will then take part in a month-long overtime ban.
Members of Unison and Unite have agreed to take part in the industrial action in a dispute over pay.
They include Police Community Support Officers and 999 call handlers.
