'Taken way too soon’: NHS nurse, 21, and boyfriend, 25, killed in horror tree crash

Jack Nunn and his partner Hannah Elsworth, a nurse, died when the car they were travelling in ploughed into a tree.

Emergency services were alerted to the smash on Huddersfield Road at around 1am yesterday but the young couple could not be saved and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Flowers were laid at the crash scene yesterday, where friends and relatives gathered to console each other.

But tributes have also been paid online.

Posting on Facebook, Jack’s cousin, Amy Hall, said: “I cannot put into words how devastated we are as a family, to hear that our beautiful Jack Nunn and his fiancée Hannah died last night in such a truly tragic way.

“You were a true gentleman, a hard working man and a true credit to this family.

“You were loved by so many people.

“You were a lovely couple, grew together and now you can both rest in peace together.”

Kieran McCoy Litherland, who trained to be a mechanic with Jack, said: “Went through college with you doing mechanics. Made us laugh everyday at college he couldn't say a thing without making at least one of us laugh.”

Mandy Carter described Hannah as ‘a lovely young girl taken far too soon’ and Lisa Pape said she had ‘never met a more polite young man’ than Jack, who she said ‘always had time to talk’.

Laura Elsworth added: “RIP Hannah and Jack, a lovely couple who have been sadly taken away from their loved ones way too soon.”

Ellie Simon wrote a heartfelt message on Facebook, in which she said: Words can’t even describe all the emotions I’m feeling right now. “Whenever I think about my best memories, I instantly think of you. You were the devil on my right shoulder but also the angel on my left.

“So many silly moments with you, I’ll never ever forget.

“Nothing would ever change between me and you no matter how long we would go without seeing each other.

“I may not see you now, but my Hannah Spanner, you will always be a part of me.”
