Takeaways often smell better than they taste, but thankfully the depth of flavour and delicate balance of spices here does not disappoint on the taste buds.

We opted for two trusted classics, lamb rogan josh and Kashmiri lamb.

There was a pleasant tang to the former and the latter was so meltingly tender it almost made me look forward to my toothless dotage.

The accompanying onion bhajis, bringing the bill to £15.70, proved the only minor disappointment. Though beautifully flavoured, they failed to deliver the expected crunch.
