Take to the slopes with new Doncaster airport flight route to ski resort

Flights to the destination, which is in the Rhone-Alps region of south eastern France, start from December 17 this year with Flybe.

Airport chiefs said winter sports enthusiasts travelling to Chambery can get easy access to some of the world’s finest slopes as the destination is close to Mont Blanc.

Steve Gill, managing director of the airport, said: “We are delighted to be adding a further destination to our Flybe winter programme in Chambery, coming swiftly on the back of announcing Dusseldorf to our new routes with Flybe.

“Being able to offer a winter sports destination as part of our winter programme is a great addition to our offer to customers alongside traditional getaway favourites like Alicante, Tenerife and Malaga,”

The announcement of this new route and Dusseldorf make it ten destinations available from Flybe in Doncaster.

Mr Gill added: “The new Flybe routes will offer an additional 500,000 seats and with growth from our incumbent airlines, we are predicting double-digit growth in 2016 with passenger figures rising to 1.35 million this year.

Flights to Chambery will take to the skies just before Christmas, flying once a week on Saturdays.

Tickets went on sale last Thursday with one way fares available for booking at www.flybe.com from £44.99 including taxes and charges.

The new Dusseldorf service will fly four times a week with Amsterdam, Paris, Alicante and Malaga remaining unchanged for the winter with Berlin increasing to daily.

Faro and Newquay will be replaced with the two new popular winter routes with capacity to Jersey reducing to three times weekly during winter.

We see them as a natural addition to our network from our new base and are confident that they will prove attractive options both for business travel and for winter getaways.”

Sir Gary Verity, chief executive officer of tourism organisation Welcome to Yorkshire, said last week that the new services have ‘the potential to bring an additional 65,000 international visitors to the region.’

The addition of new flights, coupled with growth from other incumbent carriers, is expected to take passenger figures from 900,000 in 2015 to 1.35m in 2016. Doncaster now offers flights to more than 30 destinations.
