Take a walk on the wild side to see parkland

Have your say

FANCY a walk around the beautiful parkland at Wentworth Castle, but not sure where you are allowed to go?

Peter Clegg, a learning and community education officer, aims to put that right when he leads two introductory walks on Monday.

The Wentworth Welly Wander is aimed at young walkers and families. Starting at 10.30am, it takes a steady stroll around the parkland looking out for tree faces and winter wildlife.

Wellies are essential - the ground is uneven and not suitable for pushchairs, so backpacks are better to carry non-walkers.

At 1.30pm the same day, there is a longer version for keener walkers.

This walk covers about three miles, picking out the wildlife and historic highlights of the parkland.

The ground can be muddy and uneven, so strong shoes or boots are recommended.

Both walks set off from the Long Barn Visitor Centre.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.

The walks are £3 per person or £10 for a family of two adults and two children.
