Take a look at the four metre chip butty paraded at Bramall Lane before the Sheffield derby
A four-metre chip butty was paraded around Bramall Lane ahead of the latest Steel City derby as Sheffield United sponsor Midnite staged a tongue-in-cheek tribute to one of English football’s most distinctive terrace anthems.
Principle partners of Sheffield United, Midnite, unveiled the oversized sandwich on the touchline prior to kick-off on Sunday, celebrating the club’s famous “Chip Butty” song - a pre-match ritual synonymous with matchdays.
The giant prop, created in collaboration with Sheffield-based Brook Bakery, formed part of a wider community campaign.

In the coming weeks, Midnite says it will donate hundreds of chip butties to local homeless charities and food banks across the city.
Andrew Mook, Head of Brand at Midnite, said it was designed to reflect the culture of the club and its supporters.
“We wanted to give something back to Sheffield United fans in a way that is synonymous with the club. The chip butty anthem is instantly recognisable as being something unique to Sheffield United, and by creating a giant chip butty, we wanted to have some fun, while ultimately delivering a strong message.
“Midnite is dedicated to offering value to Sheffield United fans. We aren’t just here to use the club and stick our logo on the shirt. We want to become a part of the club, and our initiatives and activations have all been designed to bring fans closer to the clubs they love.
“It has been great to work alongside local Sheffield businesses to create the chip butty, and then to help give back to the community foodbank and charities.”
As Sheffield United’s front-of-shirt sponsor, Midnite has taken a hands-on approach to giving back to fans in the city of Sheffield.
They have recently rolled out several fan-focused initiatives, including subsidising away travel for supporters, funding free haircuts for fans at the start of 2026, and commissioning a 50 square metre mural in support of manager Chris Wilder opposite the stadium.
