In the early hours on Saturday morning, officers spotted a vehicle being driven the wrong way down Mappin Street in Sheffield city centre.

After attempting to catch up with the car, the driver made off at speed and attempted to evade them.

Using city centre CCTV, the vehicle was quickly located before the driver abandoned it and took off on foot.

Officers quickly caught up with him, however, arresting the 26-year-old on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs, careless driving and possession of class A-drugs.

He spent the morning at Shepcote Lane police station awaiting processing.
