A stolen car was set on fire in Sheffield in a suspected early morning arson attack.

Firefighters from Elm Lane fire station were called out to Dryden Road in Southey Green at about 3.45am on Saturday morning.

A spokesman for the fire service said the car involved was a Nissan Micra, which had been reported stolen to the police last week.

He said it appeared that the fire was likely to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters were at the scene for about 45 minutes and police also called out to the incident.

No one was hurt.

Anyone with information about the blaze or the vehicle should ring South Yorkshire Police on 101.
