Survey reveals best known housebuilder

A housebuilder revealed by a recent survey to be the best known across the country, celebrates its sixtieth anniversary this year.

Barratt was founded by Sir Lawrie Barratt back in 1958 and has grown to become the UK’s largest housebuilder, responsible for the building of more than 17,300 homes last year. Over the past 60 years it has built 450,000 houses, helping some 2.8 million families to find their homes.

As part of its sixtieth anniversary celebrations the company commissioned new research which asked people which housebuilder first came to mind. The results show Barratt as the most recognised housebuilder, mentioned in 19 per cent of all answers, nearly double the number naming its nearest competitor.

The housebuilder is planning a major marketing campaign throughout 2018 with a special sixtieth anniversary logo, new advertising, leaflets, webpages and signage to appear across its developments, including those in Leeds, such as St Oswald’s View development in Methley.

Ian Ruthven, managing director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West said: “2018 is a really special year for us. We’re looking forward to celebrating the anniversary with a range of local and national activities.

"It’s incredible to think that we have helped so many families across Leeds and throughout the country. We’re looking forward to continuing to build many more five-star homes over the next 60 years.”

The survey was carried out by Morar HPI in November, 2017.
