Support charity appeals for computer help

A DOGS charity in Sheffield is seeking an IT whizz to help out with its computer systems.

Support Dogs, based on Brightside Lane, Attercliffe, needs help to streamline its computer operations because it has grown so much in the past few years.

Director Rita Howson said: “As the charity has grown, so has the amount of information we need to input. But we don’t even have a proper database – all we have is a mass of Excel spreadsheets.”

Rita said the charity, which trains seizure alert dogs for people with conditions such as epilepsy, ideally would like someone who had just gained an IT qualification but had not yet found work, or someone doing a Masters degree and looking for a project as part of their dissertation.

She said: “We could offer an internship for six months or so. As well as gaining valuable hands-on experience in a real working environment, we could help them to access training that would lead to a certificate in fundraising management to add to their qualifications.”

“We’re only a small charity and the time it is taking to put things onto various databases is stopping us getting on with our real work.”
