Thousands of people across the whole of South Yorkshire will dress up as their favourite superheroes today to raise money to help sick and disadvantaged children in the area.

The money raised from the campaign – which aims to raise more than £20,000 – will be distributed to a number of causes over the summer.

Among the people who have already benefitted are two young carers and a baby. Their mum is awaiting surgery for a serious condition and the family has been awarded a visit to Doncaster’s Yorkshire Wildlife Park to create a day of memories for them to cherish.

Community groups have also benefitted, with Batemoor and Jordanthorpe Community Association receiving a grant for IT equipment and games.

Allan Ogle, Charity Manager for Cash for Kids, said: “We can’t thank everyone enough for taking part and The Star for all their support. Every penny raised makes a significant difference to support so many local causes.”
