Famous for hits such as ‘Sit Down’ and ‘Come Home’, the Manchester group will be live at Botanical Gardens on Thursday, June 30.

Organiser Andrew Bates said: “The appearance of James is a major deal for Music in the Gardens.

“We have staged some great acts over the years but James has to be our best catch to date.”

Music in the Gardens started 12 years ago as one night of jazz in a marquee and has grown into a major charity event, raising more than £250,000 since it began.

Run and operated by Rotarians, Music in the Gardens has become a staple in the Sheffield arts calendar.

The following night will see band The Feeling as headliners and reggae favourites UB40 will top the bill on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Unite the Union Brass Band and Sheffield Philharmonic will be performing.
