A team of intrepid Doncaster hair stylists swapped trimming for training to take part in a gruelling half marathon for charity.
Staff from Saks Doncaster pounded the pavement at Leeds Half Marathon to raise £260 for the Eve Appeal.
The team – most of whom had never run in their lives before signing themselves up for the event – as part of a commitment from Saks to raise £100,000 for the charity over the next two years.
Speaking about the event, Rebecca Calladine, salon owner, said: “Everyone was up for giving it a try, but a lot of us had never really run.
“We started going for run’s around Lakeside after work and going to the gym.
“The race itself was hard and it took between two to three hours of solid running for everyone to finish.
“We all had blisters but we’re still thinking about doing another, so it can’t have been all bad. All our customers were amazing and really supportive of us.
“I’m really proud of the team for getting involved.”
Saks aims to raise £100,000 through a series of fundraising events, sporting challenges and an international group trek for franchisees in 2016.
All the money raised will go towards The Eve Appeal that raise money to fund the world-class research programme at the Department of Women’s Cancer based at University College London.
The team at the Doncaster branch are no stranger to charity work.
Stylists at the High Street salon have previously raised money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice with a charity day in the salon.
