Stunning art from Sheffield children admired by thousands

More than 1,000 people packed into Ponds Forge to view the biggest children's art exhibition in the country.

Sheffield Young Artists Exhibition displayed 1,200 stunning masterpieces, all created by budding artists across the city, for the two-day event.

Since the Rotary Club of Abbeydale first introduced Sheffield Young Artists in 2005 over 7000 pictures by Sheffield schoolchildren have been displayed.

Event organiser Ken Marshall said: “This was the biggest and best Sheffield Young Artists’ Exhibition we have done. It was a happy family event and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. Many of the visitors expressed surprise and admiration at the range of talent on show from Sheffield school children.”

A second showing of this year’s exhibition will be held at The Town Hall on 20th-21st May 20-21.

This year two Sheffield students, Abigail Powell and Tristan Brockenshire, were awarded RBA Scholars of the Year and had their work displayed at the Mall Galleries, London.
