ALMOST 100 students in Worksop have signed up to the bone marrow register.
Volunteers from blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan visited Worksop Post-16 to talk to students about joining the bone marrow register.
They were joined by former student Ben Stubbs, who went on to donate after joining the bone marrow register at Barnsley College in 2011.
Ben was the first student in the UK who donated after joining the register as a result of Anthony Nolan’s ‘Register and Be a Lifesaver’ programme, which teaches young people aged 16 to 18 about blood, organ, and bone marrow donation.
Ben, now aged 20, said: “I know my bone marrow went to a little boy who was aged two to three; all I know is I was his last option. I would do it again in a heartbeat.”
