Students’ aid for Japan

Have your say

Media students at Barnsley College have been doing their bit to help the victims of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan earlier this year.

The group of 18 students were in a lesson when the news broke about the disaster and watched the live television reports as the crisis unfolded.

A decision was made there and then that they wanted to do something for the appeal and they opted to record a song they could broadcast on plasma screens across college sites while students went around with collection buckets.

The group chose Justin Bieber’s song Pray as the basis for their project, re-writing the lyrics to incorporate messages they wanted to get across. They raised £180 for the Red Cross.
