Struggling Doncaster takeaway restaurant announces final closure

A struggling Doncaster takeaway food shop has announced its final closure this weekend.

The Yorkshire Pie House in Silver Street will shut its doors for the last time this week after initially announcing it was to close earlier this year.

Attempts were made to find a new buyer for the business which opened in 2012 after its closedown was initially reported in January.

In a Facebook post, owner Andy Milner wrote: 'Short version, that's all folks.

'We will be open next weekend to sell our remaining stock and then we are done.

'Thanks for the memories Doncaster. More to follow. Pie over and out.'

Mr Milner had first revealed that the shop, dedicated to selling pies, was to close after revealing the closure plan on New Year's Day.

He wrote: "Sorry to tell all our amazing customers that the Pie House will shortly close its' doors for good.

'It is said that man cannot live by bread alone and thus a business cannot live by Saturday night alone.'

An appeal for a buyer to come forward was made but Mr Milner has now said the shop's catering and cafe equipment are for sale.

The restaurant became known for a series of pie eating challenges and unusual recipes.
