String concert at Octagon

Have your say

YOUNG Sheffield musicians will perform with a unique 14-strong line-up including some of the biggest names in folk on Thursday at The Octagon.

In January, 27 string players aged 11 to 21 came together for a weekend of workshops led by Music in the Round’s Donald Grant and guitarist Anna Massie.

They learned a new piece of music which Donald had written especially for them to play at the concert.

The performance will enable the musicians to play at a 1,000 seat venue alongside some of today’s most successful folk musicians.

n Tickets are £15, £10 for disabled and unemployed and £3 for under-18s and students and are available from Sheffield Students’ Union Box Office or Sheffield Theatres Box Office. The concert starts at 7.45pm
