VILLAGERS are preparing to toast the Queen at a party in Wortley on Monday.
A brass band will strike up God Save the Queen after Lady Rowena Stuart Wortley opens celebrations.
There will be sword dancers, a best-dressed king and queen contest, a memory lane exhibition in St Leonard’s Church, music and a hog roast. The event is being organised by Wortley Parish Council and Wortley Men’s Club with the help of community businesses and groups.
Parish councillor Jeff Colley said a new tree would also be planted to mark the jubilee. “It looks like it’s going to be a great day with lots for everyone,” he said.
