'I'll be working in St Lucia at BodyHoliday, who have offered me a full-time permanent position.

'As of now I can hang up my dance shoes in St Lucia.

'I've got my 40th birthday coming up soon and this has turned into a proper farewell tour. I'm not going to be like Cher and have five of them!

'My mind says I can keep going but my body says no. I wanted to do it to the best of my ability.

'It's been three years since I was on Strictly. there are new professionals coming through. Everyone's had enough of me now.'

Robin said that the show is going to be his life story told on stage, featuring his trademark cheeky chat and some of his most memorable performances.

The star promised: 'It's going to be camp, fun and glitzy.'

He will be joined on stage by a team of professional dancers for his routines.

Ipswich-born Robin has been dancing since the age of three. He studied studied both ballroom and Latin dance, eventually competing in both at international level.

His professional dance partner is Kristina Rihanoff, another Strictly professional favourite. The two have toured extensively in their own shows.

Robin also starred in the international dance phenomenon Burn the Floor for many years.

He toured the world with the spectacular show and appeared on Broadway in a spin-off show.

He's also worked on TV dance shows in Australia and the Netherlands, as well as co-presenting on the Strictly sister show, It Takes Two, and writing and broadcasting about Strictly.

Robin joined Strictly in 2010, partnering actress Patsy Kensit in his first series, and his other partners have included Dragon's Den star Deborah Meaden and ex-EastEnder Anita Dobson.

He became as well known for his forthright opinions and cheeky charm as for his dancing skills.

Robin said his favourite celebrity dance partner was definitely actress Lisa Riley.

Their pairing was just as popular with the public and the duo, who danced up a storm together in 2012, are still firm friends.

Robin said they live around the corner from each other and meet up all the time.

However, he was forced to leave the show in 2015, following a terrible back injury that required surgery.

Now Robin's looking forward to completing his farewell tour and then dancing off into the sunset to paradise.
