Strictly Come Dancing stars visit Sheffield hospital

Patients at one of the country's leading cancer hospitals had some surprise visitors earlier this week '“ the stars of the Strictly Come Dancing tour.

Len Goodman, Ainsley Harriott and Mel Giedroyc turned up to show their support for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity on Wednesday January 27, where they met staff and patients.

The celebrities were shown around inpatient wards including the Teenage Cancer Unit as well as outpatient areas such as the Day Case Unit.

Judge Len Goodman said: “It’s been a wonderful visit for us and I hope we have brought some pleasure to the fantastic staff and patients we have met. Weston Park Hospital gets a 10 from Len.”

Sam Kennedy, Director of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity said: “We are so pleased to have had the support of the Strictly Come Dancing cast and crew this morning.

“Their visit has had a massive impact on patients in the hospital who unexpectedly got to meet some of their TV heroes.

“As a local cancer charity, having such high-profile support helps us with our aim of raising £2million this year, to help keep local families whose lives have been affected by cancer, together for longer.”
