THEY won’t quite end up paved with gold but the streets of one South Yorkshire village are to take on a bright new look in the coming months.
In the latest phase of Barnsley Council’s ongoing regeneration of Goldthorpe, environmental improvement works will be carried out to areas of Barnsley Road and Doncaster Road, from Kelly Street up to Market Street.
Work will begin during July, focusing on the pedestrianised retail areas and the main carriageway.
There will be new paving and kerbs, resurfaced carriageways, new seating, bins and cycle racks, and new street lights, car parking and loading bays.
Information events about the work are at Goldthorpe Scout and Guide Headquarters, Lockwood Road, from 2pm to 5pm on Wednesday May 11 and Thursday May 12.
