Street drinking crackdown plea for public views

Have your say

POLICE are urging residents to give their views on restrictions set up to curb the problem of street drinking in a Sheffield suburb.

Sheffield Council’s North East Community Assembly is to review the success of the Alcohol Exclusion Order zone set up to cover Shiregreen in a crackdown on anti-social behaviour.

The order was implemented in June and is coming up for review by the council over the coming week.

People are being asked to send comments about whether they still feel underage drinking is a problem, whether they have been approached to buy drinks for under-age youngsters, if they are aware of the alcohol restrictions and whether they feel they have made a difference to Shiregreen.

Residents are also being asked for other suggestions to help tackle underage drinking.

To comment on the restrictions, contact acting Sergeant Laura Downs at Shiregreen and Firth Park Safer Neighbourhood policing team. Email or call 0114 2963925.
