Store’s big cash boost for charity

Staff at the Sainsbury’s store in Edenthorpe, Doncaster, have raised £7,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care in the past year.

Customers voted last May for Macmillan Cancer Care to receive a year’s worth of fundraising and a number of activities included a 100th birthday event and a Halloween sponsored walk.

Amy Dukes, fundraising manager for the charity, said: “We’re really grateful for the fantastic efforts of the colleagues and customers at Sainsbury’s Edenthorpe.

They have really helped to raise the profile of our charity in Doncaster.

Their money really has helped to make a difference to us over the last 12 months.”

Store manager Andy Firth said: “From volunteering to the many fundraising activities that we’ve held, our customers have really helped to support our fundraising during our year’s partnership with the Macmillian Cancer Care.

“To anyone who’s contributed to our overall total, all our colleagues would like to thank you.

“The donations have helped to support a local charity that’s close to many people’s hearts in Doncaster.”
