Stop old folk freezing to death, urge campaigners

Have your say

A new campaign is calling for action to put a stop to old folk in the region dying in the cold.

Cold Homes Week runs until Friday and aims to reduce fuel poverty and excess winter deaths.

In South Yorkshire alone there were 350 excess winter deaths in 2012 – many of whom were said to be elderly people dying from being too cold.

The campaign organisers, the Energy Bill Revolution, will petition the Government to invest in better insulation for leaky homes by asking for the money raised through carbon taxes to be used to provide better insulation grants.
