A SHEFFIELD pensioner has been reunited with his stolen dog – thanks to The Star.
Retired market trader Derek Naylor, aged 79, left his dog Sam in his van on Surrey Street while he played his barrel organ in the city centre to raise funds for St Luke’s Hospice.
But, when he returned a few hours later, the van had disappeared – with Sam a long-haired Dachshund inside it.
Now thankfully the two have now been reunited.
Derek, of Yorkstone Close, Wybourn, said: “The police found the van in Norfolk Street around 300 yards away from where I had left it the previous day.
“They brought Sam around as soon as they found him and I was overjoyed.
“Thanks go to The Star for putting in my appeal – this is a story with a happy ending.”
