Plans to reopen two swimming pools at Stocksbridge Community Leisure Centre within the next 12 months have been revealed.
The news comes from the SCLC Trust, who took over the recently re-opened leisure centre last year, after Sheffield Council said it would have to close it due to budget cuts.
The announcement follows a meeting with members of Stocksbridge and Sheffield Councils, who were each presented with a proposal detailing the associated costs and benefits the re-opening would bring to the town.
A spokesperson for the trust, which is currently in negotiation with the council for a 25-year lease of the building, confirmed: “We believe the timing is absolutely perfect. With the highly successful re-opening of the ‘dry’ side we have proven there is significant demand for a local indoor leisure facility.”
