Crowds gathering to watch the Tour de Yorkshire will be treated to a day of entertainment, thanks to Stocksbridge and District Chamber of Trade, The Friendship pub and Pro Voice Studios.
Live musicians and celebrity presenters will ensure the day goes with a swing as Stocksbridge prepares to host the final stage of the prestigious two-day race, which will end at Fox Valley on Sunday April 30. The last leg of the race covers 194km and will start in Bradford at 12pm on April 30th. Riders will make their way to the finish line outside Fox Valley’s Full Gas Bikes.
In association with Pro Voice Studios, the fun will begin at 10am on Stocksbridge Precinct.
Guest presenter Rik Makarem, who has starred in Casualty and Emmerdale, will introduce musicians including Charlotte Haining and Stocksbridge singer songwriter Graham Lindley.
Becky Holmes from CBBC’s ‘Got What it Takes’ will also make an appearance, along with a number of other guest artists, including local rock band Citation.
Food and drink will be provided throughout the day by The Friendship pub and the music will continue on the precinct until 7pm.
The event’s focus will then shift to The Friendship pub’s outdoor stage at the rear of the Manchester Road pub, with different bands and artists performing live until late.
Organiser Graham Lindley said: “For Stocksbridge to play such a major role in the final stage of the Tour de Yorkshire is a real boost for the town.
“I’m honoured to help organise an event for the community and visitors which puts Stocksbridge and its musicians centre stage.
“The precinct will give a great vantage point for the race as well as the RAF bomber flypast.”
