Stewart hits unbeated 114 for Abbeydale in Yorkshire and Derbyshire Cricket League

Surprise leaders De La Salle posted 198 all out (J O’Sullivan 44, M Higham 41) against third placed Parkhead. The Bulldogs chased tenaciously, to win by 3 wickets (R Walsh 46 A Burkinshaw 43*).

Parkhead are 7 points back from De La Salle, who are still top, but share this with Hollinsend Methodists. Meths restricted Ashford in the Water to 144-9 and eased to the win by 5 wickets.

Stocksbridge made 215-9 (J Newton 50 L Grayson 70 D Harlington 4-36), then dismissed Hundall for 141 (C Vickers 4-25). Totley Bent scored 174 (M Ali 61) and routed bottom team Hallam III for 82. Despite this, Totley Bent stay in the relegation zone.

Hathersage hit a handy 180 all out and then shot out Sheffield Centralians for just 55 (Z Javed 5-11).

In Division Two, table topping Sheffield Civil Service racked up 295-6 as Andy Higgins hit 101 (L Hobbs 73). Sheffield Medics replied with a spirited 225-9 (S Narra 71).

Telecom Sports were sent back for 103 (D Hadley 4-25) by Sheffield University Staff, who duly completed the win by 4 wickets to stay second just ahead of Sheffield Collegiate IV.

The boys from Abbeydale smacked 249-2 with stalwart Chris Stewart stroking an undefeated 114 with 11 4s and 5 6s (M Goodchild 60). Their opponents Parkhead II replied with 219-9 (G Wheatley 48 R Young 48*).

Grindleford scored 170-5 (T Cooper 55*) and saw neighbours Bakewell pass the target with 4 wickets down as captain and opener Kieran Clark led from the front with 113 unbeaten runs.

Norton Woodseats II made 137-9 (T Eyre 45 A Oscroft 4-23) which Hollinsend Methodists II sprinted past inside 26 overs, but with 8 wickets down.

In Division Three, Sheffield Transport were bowled out for 155 (S Levick 43 R Dewsbury 6-39), but then sent back Ridgeway for a mere 75 (G Lewis 4-37).

Transport stay well clear at the top. Hallam III remain a clear second, after surpassing Hathersage II’s handy 189 all out (A Hollum 43) for the loss of just a single wicket (M Ahmed 87* E Ide 61).

Youlgreave Lodge were bundled out for 96 (N Buck 4-27), the subsequent 7-wicket win for in form Whittington Wanderers cements their worthy third place in the Division (H Lukrose 57).

Richmond were pleased with their 229-6 (C Turner 86, M Rose 44) at Beauchief, but bottom team De La Salle II chased all the way and in a thrilling finish, snaffled the required 2 runs from the final ball to win by 4 wickets (R Bulmer 89 W Jones 76 C Turner 4-46). Chesterfield III amassed 230-4 (J Whitely 74, E Grant 52) and kept Stocksbridge II to 141-6 (E Price 54), which sees Stocksbridge sink to the bottom.

In Division Four, it was business as usual for leaders Sheffield Centralians II, who knocked up a formidable 229-7 (D Stow 68 R Wainwright 54). Chesterfield Barbarians II were tamed, being routed for 51 (D Wrigglesworth 5-15 M Latif 4-21).

Sheffield University Staff II stay in touch, amassing a no less imposing 235, then sending back Coal Aston III for 86.

Making up the triumvirate at the top are Sheffield Super Kings, who scored even more, smashing 263-9 with Ithikash Arun whacking 121 with 15 4s and 4 6s (D Sukumar 80).

Walkley replied gamely, making 185 before being bowled out (S Ali 64). The top three are streets ahead of the rest. Sheffield Civil Service II were 99 all out, Whittington Wanderers II going to a just get home, losing 8 wickets to gain their second win of the summer and lifting the Wanderers off the bottom above the Civil Servants.

In Division Five there was a setback for table topping Baslow, as they were dismissed for 96. They made Sheffield Transport II fight hard, before Transport ran out winners by 3 wickets.

Hundall II duly closed the gap, after making 148, they bundled out Telecom Sports II for 55 (J Burdett 4-10).

Hollinsend Methodists III keep their promotion hopes alive hit up 196-3 (C Baker 74* I Mullins 50), Coal Aston IV closing on a respectable 157-9. Hallam V bustled their way to 225-7 (Pillai 62, M Roebuck 68) and then bowled out Sheffield Collegiate V for 114 (Frost 4- 10). A result which keeps Hallam in touch with the leaders Baslow and Hundall II.

In the Brian Winston Premier Cup, Hollinsend Methodists scored 162-7 from their allotted 20 overs (M Wade 63) and Totley Bent could muster just 108-8 in reply.

This sees Meths through to the final and await the winner of the match between Sheffield Centralians and Parkhead to be played on August 5th.
