A group of 'radical feminist protesters’ dressed Sheffield’s Women of Steel statue in a sash emblazoned with a message as the debate over transgender rights continues to split opinion.

The sash – bearing the text ‘adult human females’ – was placed in Barker’s Pool on Monday night by Women of Steel ReSisters to coincide with nationwide action.

The protesters take issue with the idea of gender self-identification as legal reforms are proposed.
