Station parking plea by police

MOTORISTS are being reminded to park in the multi-storey car park at Sheffield railway station when collecting passengers to help ease congestion and reduce risk of accidents.

There is up to half an hour of free parking allowed at the car park.

PC Stephen Slocombe, from British Transport Police, said: “Over the past year we’ve seen an increase in the number of vehicles incorrectly using the drop-off point to collect passengers.

“This leads to congestion, which is not only frustrating for other road users, but also has the potential to lead to an increase in accidents.”
