- LANGUAGE EXCHANGE: Visit Bar & Beyond, on West Street, each Thursday at 9pm, to practice your skills.

- CANCER HUB: This 16-week pop-up will provide information and support at The Moor Market, each day from 10am.

- LIFE PAINTING: There will be an opportunity to paint a life model at The Art House Sheffield, on Backfields, from 10am this Saturday. Watercolour and acrylic paint will be provided at the workshop, which will run from 10am to 3pm, though you’re welcome to bring your own media. One long pose will allow artists the chance to complete a finished painting. This session is most suitable for those with previous experience.

- MOTHERS’ MEETING: Forked Theatre is looking for women to share their thoughts and experiences on parenthood, pregnancy, being child-free, IVF, abortion, miscarriage, surrogacy, post-natal depression and everything in between, ahead of their ‘Motherlogues’ show next month. - HARMONICA WORKSHOP: Ever fancied learning the harmonica? Now’s your chance! Will Pound will be delivering a full day of harmonica workshops this Sunday, followed by a performance in the evening, at Shakespeares, on Gibraltar Street. - CIRCUS EXHIBITION: For anyone who has ever dreamt of running away with the circus - or simply wondered what life is like for the jugglers, clowns, and acrobats that work there - a new exhibition by acclaimed photographer Peter Lavery captures what goes on behind the scenes at the Big Top.

For the past 50 years, Peter Lavery has been photographing circus performers around Britain. All shot on a plate camera, the work is an impressive collection of circus subjects. These intimately detailed photographs expose moments of ordinariness in extraordinary lives. This exhibition celebrates 250 years of circus, as well as Peter Lavery’s five decade long fascination with it.

- MONSTER MOVIE DOUBLE-BILL: Enjoy a night of old-fashioned cinema at the beautiful Abbeydale Picture House this Saturday, with a double-bill of classic monster movies.

90 years before Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, Arthur Conan Doyle’s dinosaur adventure The Lost World was brought to the big screen for the first time. - DIGITAL WORKSHOP: Do you need a little help using the computer or getting online? Perhaps you’ve got an e-mail issue that requires a little assistance, or would you like to learn how to Skype your family?

Sheffield Central Library will be hosting a digital drop-in session this Friday, from 9.30am, where friendly volunteers will be on hand to break down the ins and out of all things digital. There’s no booking required, and Age UK - which runs the session - has assured that no question is too trivial.

- BILL BAILEY: For fans of comedian Bill Bailey, there is still chance to catch his latest show ‘Larks in Transit’ after an extra date was added to his current tour, this Saturday at Sheffield City Hall. Bill will tackle politics, philosophy, the pursuit of happiness, death metal, ringtones, and an excruciating encounter with Paul McCartney during his two local performances, this Friday and Saturday. - LOVE CHEESE FEST: If you adore a good slab of cheese - and who doesn’t?! - then head to The Moor Market this Friday to try a fine selection of cheeses from across the globe.

The Love Cheese event will have a variety of craft beers and gin to wash that camambert down with, alongside some ready-to-eat street foods and plenty of live music. The will kick off at 5.30pm and run until 9pm, for those who’d like to taste, chat to the experts and buy some of their favourites to take home.

LGBT+ HISTORY MONTH: February is LGBT+ History Month: tackling homophobia, biphobia and transphobia; celebrating equality, and raising awareness on matters concerning the LGBT+ community. This Friday, Sheffield’s Showroom Cinema, on Paternoster Row, will be screening ‘Queercore: How to punk a revolution’ - a documentary about the cultural and social movement that began as an offshoot of punk. Put on your dancing shoes for the event’s after party, complete with iconic LGBT+ slideshow.

PINT & CHAT: Grab a pint, have a natter and listen to a talk from Lib Dem leader Vince Cable this Friday in the upstairs rooms of The Banner Cross, on Ecclesall Road, from 7.30pm.

COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP: Keep your cool at this communication and assertiveness class, at Sheffield Hallam Union this Friday from 4-6pm.

FAMILY HISTORY: Learn how to access online resources to discover your family history, at Meersbrook Hall from 12.30pm this Friday.

#GIRLSWITHDRILLS: This Saturday, #girlswithdrills will be teaching beginners to make planters at Union St from 2pm to 4.30pm.

CHARITY RUN: Raise funds with the St Valentine’s Massacre 5K or 10K. Meet this Sunday at Meadowhall Way by 10am - fancy dress encouraged!

MUSIC SIGNING: Musician Hannah Read will play an intimate gig and sign records at Spinning Discs Sheffield at 3pm this Saturday.
