Following her sudden death after a brain bleed in October this year, the 17-year-old’s parents made the decision to donate her organs to those in need, as they knew Skye would have wanted to help people.

Speaking about Skye ahead of the awards night, her uncle, Scott Thompson, said: “Skye was into music and beauty and loved Rihanna and shaved the sides of her head - something I definitely gave her some stick for.

“She was a stroppy teenager, just like they all are, but she was wonderful and there was not a bad bone in her body.

“Skye was beautiful inside and out and never had a bad word to say about anyone; she was just full of laughter and smiles.

“Because of the amazing young woman Skye was, she donated her organs to save others and has already saved four lives.”

Since her death, Skye’s family has been encouraging others to sign up to the organ donor register and follow in Skye’s footsteps to give others the gift of life.

The Star’s Gael Stigant presented Skye’s family - her mum Helen, brother Mikey and Uncle Scott - with the Shining Star award in recognition of her incredible gift, saying: “I’ve heard that everyone who knew Skye will tell you that she was a beautiful girl, inside and out.

“Her kind nature and consideration for other people continued on when she died, after she donated her organs to save others.

“Because of Skye’s amazing gift, four other people’s lives have been saved and I know her family are incredibly proud of her.

“I’m delighted that we were able to honour Skye and I hope the award is something her family will treasure always.”
